# How to Chat with other Members

You're able to privately chat with other members of the SocialGlow groups you're a member of. This article will walk you through how to do this from SocialGlow's [free mobile app.](https://socialglow.com/download)

### How to respond to existing chats

From the bottom taskbar of the app, click the Chat icon.

This will show all chats you are already a part of. You can click on any name or group listed there to view or comment in that chat.

|| If you are chatting with an individual person, it will be private between the two of you. **However, **if you participate in a group chat, that will be visible by all members of that group.


### How to start a new chat

There are two ways this can be done:

1. Click on the profile picture of the person you want to chat with, anywhere it appears on the app

* A new screen will pop up. Click the Chat bubble to begin a new chat.

### OR

2. Find that person in the list of members of the group you are both members of. 

* From the bottom taskbar of the mobile app, click the Groups icon.

* Click on the name of the group that person is member of.

* Click the 3-dot icon in the top right corner of the group, and select _members_ from the menu given.

* All members of that group are listed here. Find the name of the person you want to chat with, and click the Chat bubble to the right to begin a new chat with them.
