How to Go Live: Schedule a YouTube Live for a Future Date/Time

Schedule a YouTube Live for a Future Date/Time

If you have a set time you intend to go Live in your group, you're able to set this up ahead of time. This can cut down on the amount of steps needing completed later on at the time you do go Live.

You can watch the full video tutorial below or continue reading for written instructions.

Using YouTube is the best option for streaming Live Videos to your members right inside the group, because they will not be taken to another website.

TIP: In your Group Settings, you can create a Calendar Item for this scheduled Live Stream so your members will be notified with a reminder to watch!

Set up a YouTube Live event, scheduled for a future date or time:

Log in to your YouTube account.

Click on the video Create icon in the top bar.

Select the Go Live option. If you have not previously enabled the “Live option” you may need to complete that first and then return here.

Next you will fill out any pertinent information for your Live Stream; ie, name, description, category, thumbnail if desired, audience, etc. Make sure to keep the visibility either as “Public” or “Unlisted”.

TIP: Create a thumbnail for your videos that says “I’m Live, click me!” so there is no confusion!

To schedule this for a later time, then choose the date and time you want to schedule this stream for.
Fill out important info, upload thumbnail, and choose your scheduled date and time

Click Done when finished.

While still on the Stream Preview screen, click on Share to get your share link.

Copy the link to your clipboard, then close that pop up.

Copy the video link

Be sure to return here on YouTube when it is time to Go Live.

Schedule a Live Video post on SocialGlow

Go to your SocialGlow dashboard, and click Groups from the menu.
Click on the name of the group you will be going Live in.
Click the Add New Post button at the top of the page.
Select the Live Video tab.
Paste that Share link (from YouTube) into the Live Video Link field and schedule it for the same time as you have scheduled the Live Stream in YouTube.

Click Create Post to save.

Ready to Live Stream using YouTube at your Scheduled Time

At the scheduled time for your Live Stream, go back to YouTube to Go Live!
When your scheduled post goes out on your SocialGlow group, your members will be able to click on the image to have it start playing.

In your YouTube Account, click on YouTube Studio in the menu bar.

Click on Content

Then click on the Live tab for your Content.

Click on the View in Live Control Room button.

Then click on the Go Live button for that Live Stream.

You’re now Live Streaming!

Tip: Since group members will be viewing your video on SocialGlow, that is where they'll be commenting. It may be a good idea to have SocialGlow pulled up on a separate screen, so you can view and interact with them while streaming.
